Biography
RONMOODYMUSIC
Ron Moody is unique in the world of music. He is that rare individual who has spent his entire life immersed in both sides of the music industry, having been involved with creativity and with commerce. There are many who have a perspective from either the business side or from the creative side; Ron has both.
Starting in the early 70’s, Ron began his business career in Atlanta with ABC/Dunhill Records. In the latter part of that decade, his path took him to the Dutch company, Polygram, and, subsequently, a merger with Universal brought him to that label. It was while working in the major leagues of the industry for some 35 years that he received a thorough education as to why it’s known as the music business. “Nothing happens in a vacuum,” says Ron. “Everything in this industry is planned, scrutinized, discussed, and methodically executed so as to maximize airplay and sales.”.
As a performer, Ron’s career goes all the way back to the mid-1960’s as a founding member of his band, Ron Moody and the Centaurs. The band has recorded for Columbia (Sony), ABC/Dunhill, and MGM Records and is still performing today, sixty years since its inception. They are also members of the Beach Music Hall of Fame. Currently Ron has 4 solo projects available: “Southern Style,” “Gon’ Dance,” “Lulu’s Chicken Shack,” and “Santa’s Coming in a Cadillac.” Ron Moody & the Centaurs have 3 CD’s available: “The Weather’s Here, Wish You Were Beautiful,” “Live, Volume 1,” and “Live Too.”
Ron’s passion is songwriting, and he has penned hundreds of tunes, several of which have been recorded by legendary soul artists, such as Archie Bell and Maurice Williams. Aron Music (not coincidentally, Elvis’ middle name), is Ron’s ASCAP publishing company.
Ron is also the host of two syndicated radio shows, “YOUR Saturday Night Beach Party” and “Retro Rock and Soul—The Music & The Memories.”
In addition to all his musical endeavors, Ron has authored his first novel, “Forever the Constellations,” available in December 2024.
